Sydenham Edwards

Sydenham Edwards (1768–1819) was a British botanical artist and illustrator whose work became an important part of late 18th- and early 19th-century botanical publishing. He is particularly associated with Curtis’s Botanical Magazine, for which he produced numerous finely observed plant illustrations noted for their clarity, accuracy and elegant composition. Edwards later became closely involved with The Botanical Register, another influential illustrated botanical publication, and his work also appeared in other important horticultural and natural-history titles of the period.
