Magnus & Wilhelm von Wright

Magnus von Wright (1805–1868) and Wilhelm von Wright (1810–1887) were Finnish artists and ornithologists renowned for their detailed studies of birds and other natural-history subjects. Working closely from the late 1820s, they became important figures in Scandinavian ornithological illustration. Their work combined scientific observation with refined draughtsmanship, capturing plumage, posture and character with remarkable precision. The brothers’ illustrations remain highly regarded for their accuracy, elegance and contribution to 19th-century natural-history publishing.
