Johann Wilhelm Weinmann
Johann Wilhelm Weinmann (1683–1741) was a German apothecary, botanist and publisher best known for Phytanthoza Iconographia, one of the most ambitious botanical works of the 18th century. Based in Regensburg, Weinmann combined his pharmaceutical career with a deep interest in botany, establishing a botanical garden and documenting a vast range of plants. Published from the 1730s, Phytanthoza Iconographia became celebrated for its richly coloured plates and helped establish Weinmann’s lasting reputation in European botanical publishing.
