Weinmann Engravings - Set of 12 (can be split into 6s )
A rare set of twelve botanical engravings by Johann Wilhelm Weinmann from the first edition of Phytanthoza Iconographia, published in 1737.
The work was pioneering in its use of the colour-printed mezzotint process, which was then further enhanced with transparent or opaque watercolour. This technique allowed for particularly rich tonal variation, fine botanical detail and a distinctive depth of colour.
Weinmann’s plates are admired both for their scientific interest and for their strong decorative quality, and examples from the first edition remain especially desirable.
Each engraving is presented in a bespoke frame behind UV70 glass, which helps reduce reflection while offering a degree of protection from the damaging effects of ultraviolet light.
The complete set comprises twelve engravings, although it can also be divided into sets of six or three. Please contact us for further details.
