Jane Loudon

Jane Wells Loudon (1807–1858) was a British author, horticultural writer and self-taught botanical illustrator who helped make gardening and botany more accessible to Victorian women. Her influential Ladies’ Flower-Garden series combined practical horticultural advice with richly coloured botanical plates, many based on her own illustrations. Loudon’s clear, engaging approach and elegant flower studies secured her an important place in 19th-century botanical publishing.
