Carlo Antonini
Carlo Antonini (1740–1821) was an Italian architect, draughtsman and engraver active in Rome, best known for his studies of classical ornament and antique vessels. His major work, Manuale di vari ornamenti componenti la serie de’ vasi antichi, published in 1821, brought together finely engraved studies of ancient marble and bronze vases. Antonini’s work reflects the Neoclassical fascination with antiquity and remains admired for its precision, balance and decorative refinement.
