E.J. Lowe

Edward Joseph Lowe (1825–1900) was a British botanist, naturalist and author best known for his work on ferns and other cryptogamic plants. His publications helped popularise fern study during the Victorian era, when interest in collecting and cultivating them was at its height. Lowe’s major work, Ferns: British and Exotic, combined detailed descriptions with richly illustrated plates, making it an important reference for both amateur enthusiasts and botanists and securing his reputation in Victorian natural-history publishing.
