A fine set of 16 hand-coloured fern prints by E J Lowe dating from 1868.
Lowe was a prominent19th century botanist and naturalist whose work helped popularise the study and appreciation of ferns during the Victorian period. His illustrations are valued for their botanical accuracy, clarity and delicate colouring.
This set brings together sixteen individual fern studies, creating an elegant and highly decorative group with strong natural history interest.
The prints are grouped in fours and presented in a bespoke Italian frames behind TruVue glass, which helps reduce reflection while offering a degree of protection to the works.
