Severyns Fruits - Set of 9
A fine set of nine chromolithographs by the esteemed Belgian lithographer and botanical illustrator G.uillame Severyns. They were based on illustrations by J. Macfarlane and published by William Mackenzie of London, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Severyns was highly regarded for the quality and detail of his hand coloured botanical and horticultural lithographs which were produced between 1840 - 1870 .The fruit in these prints display the rich tonal range and crisp detail associated with the chromolithographic process. The set has strong decorative appeal while also reflecting the high standard of 19th-century natural-history publishing. Each chromolithograph is presented in a bespoke frame behind UV70 glass, which helps reduce reflection while offering a degree of protection from the damaging effects of sunlight.
