Paillou Owl

Paillou Owl

SKU: 00050

A rare and impressive bird engraving after Paillou, engraved by Johann Jacob Haid and his sons for Vögel, the German edition associated with the work of Thomas Pennant and published between 1771 and 1778.

Vögel is regarded as one of the most striking and scarce ornithological publications produced in Germany during the 18th century, admired for the scale, detail and decorative quality of its plates.

This engraving is presented in a complementary frame with AR70 glass, which offers a degree of protection from the damaging effects of sunlight while reducing reflection so the detail and character of the image can be appreciated clearly.
