Nozeman Cockerel
A fine and rare hand-coloured copperplate engraving from Nederlandsche Vogelen by Cornelius Nozeman and Christiaan Sepp, published in Amsterdam from 1770.
Nederlandsche Vogelen is regarded as one of the finest achievements of 18th-century ornithological publishing, with plates celebrated for their scale, precision and beautifully applied original colour.
This example was hand-coloured at the time of publication and retains the exceptional detail and decorative quality for which the series is known.
Presented in a complementary frame behind AR70 glass, which helps reduce reflection while offering a degree of protection from the damaging effects of sunlight, allowing the colour and fine detail of the engraving to remain vivid.
