Nozeman Lapwings - landscape
A fine and rare hand-coloured copperplate engraving from Nederlandsche Vogelen, one of the most significant works of 18th-century Dutch ornithology.
The publication was created by Cornelius Nozeman in collaboration with Christiaan Sepp and was published in Amsterdam from 1770. Its plates are admired for their careful observation, refined engraving and richly applied original colour.
This example was hand-coloured at the time of publication and retains the distinctive detail and character associated with the work.
Presented in a bespoke frame behind UV70 glass, which offers a degree of protection from the damaging effects of sunlight while also reducing reflection, allowing the colour and fine detail of the engraving to be appreciated clearly.
