Eisenberg Horses - Set of 8
A fine set of eight horse engravings from Baron von Eisenberg’s L’Art de Monter à Cheval, published in 1747. He was an aristocratic German horseman, equerryand rider who worked across European courts, including Naples, Vienna and England.
The work is an important 18th-century treatise on horsemanship, drawing on the traditions and techniques associated with Vienna's Spanish Riding School. It was dedicated to King George II and reflects the refinement, discipline and formal elegance of classical European equestrian training.
Often referred to "horse ballet ", the engravings capture precise classical dressage movements and high-school riding postures with elegant hand colouring and detail.
The set forms an impressive and coherent group for display and is especially appealing to collectors of equestrian, sporting and 18th-century works.
