Nozeman Falcons - Set of 2
A rare and impressive pair of hand-coloured copperplate falcon engravings from Nederlandsche Vogelen by Cornelius Nozeman and Christiaan Sepp, published in Amsterdam from 1770.
Nederlandsche Vogelen is regarded as one of the great works of 18th-century ornithological publishing, celebrated for the scale, accuracy and exceptional decorative quality of its plates.
These examples were hand-coloured at the time of publication and retain the rich colour and finely observed detail for which the series is renowned.
The pair depicts birds of prey in a striking portrait format and works particularly well as a coordinated set.
Presented in complementary frames behind AR70 glass, which helps reduce reflection while offering a degree of protection from the damaging effects of sunlight, allowing the colour and detail of the engravings to remain vivid.
